How to Spend One Day in Rome

With so much to see and do in Rome, a one-day visit can feel daunting, but a well-planned itinerary can help you hit the city’s most iconic spots. It was my second visit to Rome, but with a tighter schedule, I had to make the most of my one-day adventure. If you have a tight schedule, I strongly recommend accommodations in the heart of the city, providing easy access to top attractions and public transportation. I selected a hotel within easy walking distance of Trevi Fountain, knowing it’s a hotspot for tourists.

Here’s how to make the most of a single day in the Eternal City:

Morning**

1. Trevi Fountain

Head towards the Trevi Fountain, the largest Baroque fountain in Rome. If you want to take pictures without the crowd, I suggest getting up early in the morning and heading there first. I was surprised to see a few people already there when I arrived at 5:30am. Toss a coin into the fountain to ensure your return to Rome—an age-old tradition. The intricate sculptures and the sound of cascading water make this spot truly enchanting.
