Located just outside the city, this mysterious attraction has been baffling visitors since 1940. Inside the slanted cabin, you’ll witness strange phenomena such as people leaning at impossible angles, balls rolling uphill, and objects defying gravity. It’s a fun and mind-boggling experience for visitors of all ages.

While it’s a bit of a tourist trap, the Mystery Spot’s charm and oddities make it well worth a stop. Plus, the surrounding redwoods add to the sense of natural wonder.

The Santa Cruz beach train is a 3-hour round-trip from the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk to Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. Operated by Roaring Camp Railroads, the trains offer two distinct routes: the Redwood Forest Steam Train, a 75-minute round-trip through towering redwoods, and the Santa Cruz Beach Train, which winds from the forest down to the coast. I chose the latter to experience both the forest and the seaside.
